Lathmar Holi at Barsana

The holy city of Mathura is known for its best celebration of Holi. In Lathmar holi, colourful and melodious musical procession starts from the temples to river ghats and then to the Holi Gate. The festivities start seven days before the actual festival and temples are decorated, and one can hear melodious songs that create a devotional climate.

Phoolon wali Holi in Vrindavan

Phool means flower, and on Phoolon wali Holi, people use flowers to play Holi. It is celebrated on the Ekadashi before the main day of Holi at Banke Bihar Temple in Vrindavan. The gates of the temple open around 4 pm in the evening, after which priests throw colourful flowers on the devotees.

Celebrate Holi at home with Kanha

For Kanha holi celebrating at home, start with putting Kanha’s idol on a cloth and put the flowers on it. Let the idol be seated on the flower bed and put the colours on his feet first. Then play Holi with Ladoo Gopal’s idol with the dry colours. Once it’s done, bathe the idol and dress him in the new attire.

 

After dressing up Kanha, play Phoolon wali Holi with him. Perform aarti and use some sweets as the bhog after playing Phoolon wali Holi.
